Formula
From the US: 011 (or +) → 380 → 9-digit Ukrainian number without the leading 0.
| Type | Domestic in Ukraine | Save as (portable) | Dial from US |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landline (Kyiv) | 044 XXX XXXX | +380 44 XXX XXXX | 011 380 44 XXX XXXX |
| Mobile | 050 XXX XXXX | +380 50 XXX XXXX | 011 380 50 XXX XXXX |
X characters are placeholders, not a private callable number. Save +380 in contacts; use 011 only for all-digit US access.
Dial it step by step
- 1
Exit the US network. On a mobile or modern contact book, start with +. On a US landline, PBX, or digit-only service, dial 011.
- 2
Add the Ukraine country calling code: 380.
- 3
Add the national significant number (NSN). Take the domestic Ukrainian number and remove the leading trunk prefix 0. For landlines and mobiles, what remains is 9 digits (044 XXX XXXX → 44 XXX XXXX).
Portable contact format: + 380 + NSN
Digits-only call from US: 011 + 380 + NSN
Mobile and landline rules
- Mobile: codes such as 050, 063, 066, 067, 068, 073 and 091 to 099 lose their 0 after +380 (050 → +380 50).
- Geographic landline: Kyiv city 044 becomes +380 44.
- Fixed length: landline and mobile numbers are both 9 digits after +380. If you count 8 or 10, check the number. Freephone 800 and premium 900 service numbers are the exception and can have 10.
- Number portability: mobile numbers can move between networks, so a mobile code does not reliably identify the network.

Worked examples
Domestic → portable international → digits-only from United States. All subscriber digits shown as X are placeholders.
| Type | Domestic in Ukraine | Save as (portable) | Dial from US |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kyiv landline | 044 XXX XXXX | +380 44 XXX XXXX | 011 380 44 XXX XXXX |
| Kyiv region landline | 045 XXX XXXX | +380 45 XXX XXXX | 011 380 45 XXX XXXX |
| Ukraine mobile | 050 XXX XXXX | +380 50 XXX XXXX | 011 380 50 XXX XXXX |
Common mistakes on this route
- Keeping the Ukrainian domestic 0 after 380. Wrong: 011 380 044… or +380 050…. Correct: 011 380 44… / +380 50….
- Miscounting digits. After 380 a landline or mobile number is 9 digits. A 10-digit remainder usually means the 0 was kept, unless it is an 800 or 900 service number.
- Saving 011 in the contact. Store +380 + NSN so the number works from any country. See common formatting errors.
Quick Ukraine area codes (from the US)
| City / area | Domestic area code | After +380 / 011 380 |
|---|---|---|
| Kyiv (city) | 044 | 44 |
| Kyiv region | 045 | 45 |
International form already has the leading 0 removed. Dial 011 380 (or +380), then the code, then the subscriber digits. Starter set only, not a full inventory. Full rules and mobile ranges: Ukraine (+380).
Time difference (practical)
As of October 2026, Ukraine uses UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer. It changes clocks on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October; the US changes on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. So Ukraine is usually 7 hours ahead of US Eastern, but 6 hours for the few weeks when only one side has changed. Example: 09:00 New York = 16:00 Kyiv for most of the year. Check the current offset before early or late calls.
How the international format is built
Under ITU-T E.164, the international number is the country code plus national significant number, with a maximum of 15 digits. The + symbol and spacing are access/display notation rather than E.164 digits.
Portable
+ 380 + NSN
Digits-only from US
011 + 380 + NSN

FAQ
What is the Ukraine country code from the US?
380. Dial 011 or +, then 380 and the Ukrainian number without the leading domestic 0.
Do I dial 011 or +?
Use + on a mobile or saved contact when supported. Use 011 on a US landline or digit-only path. After that, the destination is the same: 380 + NSN.
Why drop the zero?
The leading 0 is a Ukrainian domestic trunk prefix, not part of the national significant number after country code 380. Keeping it gives 011 380 0…, which is wrong.
How do I dial a Ukrainian mobile from the US?
Drop the 0 from 050 XXX XXXX, then dial 011 380 50 XXX XXXX or +380 50 XXX XXXX.
How many digits come after +380?
Nine for landlines and mobiles, once the leading 0 is removed. Freephone 800 and premium 900 service numbers can have ten.
