- A two-digit carrier-selection code that picks the long-distance carrier for one call; Anatel’s rules also allow the call without it. It is not part of the number, so drop it with the 0 when you convert to +55.
- How can I tell a Brazilian mobile from a landline?
- Look at the number after the area code. Landlines have eight digits and, under Anatel’s numbering rules, start with a digit from 2 to 6. Mobiles have nine and start with 9.
- What exit code do I use to call abroad from Brazil?
- 00, optionally followed by a two-digit carrier code, then the country code: 00 1 XXX XXX XXXX for a US number, or 00 XX 1 XXX XXX XXXX with a carrier code XX. On a mobile, use + instead.
