- Should I drop the 9 at the start of a Spanish landline?
- No. The 9 or 8 at the start of a Spanish landline is part of the nine-digit number, so it stays after +34, and there is no 0 to add either.
- What are the 103, 104, 105 and 107 codes?
- They are call-by-call carrier-selection codes used inside Spain to choose the carrier for one call. They are not part of anyone’s number, so never save one in a contact or put it after +34.
- What exit code do I use to call abroad from Spain?
- 00. Dial 00, the country code and the number, for example 00 1 XXX XXX XXXX for a US number, or use + on a mobile. A carrier-selection code, if you use one, goes before the 00, never after it.

Common Spain Formatting Mistakes
- Dropping the leading 9 of a landline as if it were a trunk prefix.
- Adding a 0 after +34.
